- In the United States and Canada, Netflix’s ‘Play something Else ‘ feature.
- Amazon Fire TV customers in the United States and Canada can now use voice commands to access Netflix’s “Play Something” function.
Netflix introduced a new “Play Something Else” feature earlier this year that adds a button to the streaming service’s UI that suggests new series and movies based on the user’s request.
Users of the Amazon Fire TV will now use voice commands to access the Netflix feature. For example, users in the US and Canada may say “Alexa, Play Something Else on Netflix,” and the streaming service will begin playing a new series or movie, according to Amazon’s official blog.
“We have seen that Fire TV customers who use voice engaged with content nearly twice as much as those who don’t,” Charlotte Maines, Director of Fire TV, said in a statement on the feature. Users can use the Alexa Voice remote to activate the feature by asking, “Alexa, Play Something from Netflix.”
Because the Fire TV Omni Series devices have hands-free voice commands, users will ask Alexa to Play Something from across the room.
“Choosing what to watch is difficult when there are so many wonderful possibilities. As a result, we are thrilled to be collaborating with Fire TV to add Alexa voice technology to the Netflix Play Something Else feature. Now you can rapidly find a show or film that we know you’ll enjoy based on what you’ve already watched.”
While commenting on the feature, Netflix’s Director of Marketing Partnerships, Magno Herran, commented. Users in India can use the ‘Play Something’ feature, but not the voice commands, by pressing the ‘Play Something Else’ button on the streaming service’s UI.
When you press the Play Something button, Netflix will begin playing a film or series similar to what you are currently watching. It will show a new series or movie and incomplete ones, but it will not offer a movie or series that you have already seen.
