Fire destroyed a government building:
A territorial government structure in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut, was ruined by a massive blaze that burned for 13 hours on Saturday, said the community’s fire chief.
Hector Nagyak, the fire chief, said the fire marshal is probing the reason for the blaze that destroyed the government of the Nunavut building.
Approximately 12 firefighters reacted to the massive fire that began at about 11 a.m., and no damages were reported, Nagyak said.
On Facebook, at approximately 6 p.m., the RCMP advised citizens to shelter in place because of the blaze.

Individuals in Gjoa Haven posted that they heard blasts coming from the ruined structure on social media, but no officials have confirmed this.
Images from after it was destroyed show the building mostly charred and destroyed.
The RCMP published again on Facebook at approximately 8 p.m. that it was secure for people to escape their homes.
